Wine
Wine is an application that lets you run Windows software on Linux (and other operating systems). Although it is still under active development many applications and games run quite well. DirectX implementation is getting better and better and more games are starting to work. If you want to know what games work you should look at Frank's Corner and the Wine Application Database.
